Flowers are following me around this summer
Yes, I’ve got flowers on the brain right now.
It’s summer and they’re growing everywhere, which all on its own is a miraculous gift from the earth.
Every painting tells a story
This is my story about the Big White Fish.
You’re welcome to have your own story too.
A big white fish falls asleep in a hot pink watery place, and has a dream about a diver who comes to visit her.
Being the artist I am in present time
Some of the very first paintings I made as a new painter were of trees.
There’s always been something about trees that inspires me. As I started being a painter, my artist’s eye was mesmerized by their frozen dramatic winter forms, and I imagined them dancing and communicating with everyone who passed by.
Making art with spirit
Where does art come from?
Before any artwork takes shape as something that can be seen, it already exists as energy or spirit.
How do I find my art making inspiration?
I’ve learned that if I sit around and wait for inspiration to knock on the door and announce its arrival, I’ll be waiting a long time.
Ideas and inspiration show up from everywhere, all of the time, and the best thing I can do to welcome them into my studio is be present.
Everything’s Falling Into Place
The title of this painting is a reminder to myself, as an artist and human being, to trust the process I have set into motion.
As many of my paintings have been, this one was a surprise when it showed up looking like this, and I wisely declared it complete.
