Art Stories is here!
‘Art Stories’ is my first Ebook, and it’s free to download!
‘Art Stories’ was inspired by the stories that show up with every new image I find while making my paintings.
Every painting tells a story
This is my story about the Big White Fish.
You’re welcome to have your own story too.
A big white fish falls asleep in a hot pink watery place, and has a dream about a diver who comes to visit her.
Being an artist is for me first
As I’ve stepped back into having an art studio and painting again, I’ve updated and become more conscious about what being an artist means to me.
I took a break from painting in 2010, putting all of my energy into creating my psychic business, teaching classes, working with clients, and focusing on my writing.
Meditation brings inspiration and helps me manifest my creations
My best creative ideas don't show up when I'm in effort.
Trying extra hard does nothing to have those brilliant ideas flowing - in fact, it gets in the way.
Experimentation and trust always pay off
There is joy in finding a new direction in my work.
I’ve spent the past 6 months working on my painting practice, doing my best to trust, and to allow the new imagery to show up. It won’t show up if I don’t, and so I have a regular painting practice.
Ghost Garden
How breaking my wrist helped me find a new painting style.
It wasn’t my intention to break my wrist, and I don’t recommend it. It was the first time in my life (and I’m old now) that I had a broken bone, and also had surgery.
You can't teach someone how to be an artist
You already are an artist, by virtue of being human.
Being human is a naturally creative experience.
Healing the spirit for over 40,000 years
The evolution of the human spirit is the evolution of creativity, and of art.
Art has been healing the spirit for over 40,000 years now. Art speaks to the spirit. When you work from your spirit, you and your life are more in line with what you came here to do and become.
A few of my favorite art making tools
Like every other artist I know, I have my favorite tools for making art.
Some of the tools I work with came to me from experience, some from study, many accidentally.
Being the artist I am in present time
Some of the very first paintings I made as a new painter were of trees.
There’s always been something about trees that inspires me. As I started being a painter, my artist’s eye was mesmerized by their frozen dramatic winter forms, and I imagined them dancing and communicating with everyone who passed by.
Making art with spirit
Where does art come from?
Before any artwork takes shape as something that can be seen, it already exists as energy or spirit.
How do I find my art making inspiration?
I’ve learned that if I sit around and wait for inspiration to knock on the door and announce its arrival, I’ll be waiting a long time.
Ideas and inspiration show up from everywhere, all of the time, and the best thing I can do to welcome them into my studio is be present.
